The 12.0.4 update enables specially designed apps on tablets, smartphones, and PCs to communicate with and control interaction with Photoshop CS5 (Located in the Edit menu: Remote Connections). You must install the 12.0.4 update to activate a remote connection between Photoshop CS5 and any apps that Adobe or third-party developers create to interact with Photoshop. For example, Photoshop CS5 must be updated to 12.0.4 to interact with three new iPad apps that Adobe has designed to work with it - Adobe Nav, Adobe Color Lava, and Adobe Eazel. These apps will be available in the future on the App Store.

Using finger swipes, pinches, and other gestures, Color Lava and Eazel users can create unique colors swatches and artwork that can be transferred back to Photoshop. Painted Foliage - Free Photoshop Brushes
Here is another set of Photoshop brushes from Obsidian Dawn: This set of brushes is made up of various foliage that has been painted by hand, on a canvas. So, you’ve got that nice canvas texture, some paint texture, etc. Included within are various stems, grass, and leaves – some single, so that you can put them together however you like, and others already arranged in bunches. This set was made to accompany my Painted Flowers Photoshop and GIMP Brushes set. That one is made up of various flowers, all with the same pretty canvas texture. These are all very high resolution images, with the average brush size being about 2000 pixels.

Here are some new Photoshop brushes from Obsidian Dawn: This set of free Photoshop and GIMP brushes is made up of various flowers that have been painted by hand, on a canvas. So, you’ve got that nice canvas texture, some paint texture, etc. These flowers are not very detailed, just some basic flowery shapes. Some fun embellishments to add just about anywhere.
This set also includes a few brushes that are made to either add or remove the center from a flower, in a semi-circular shape. For example, if a flower that you like doesn’t have a center “dot” and you’d like it to, you can use one of those “center circle” brushes to create it. And the same applies to the opposite – if you want to remove the center area of a flower, use one of these as an eraser to get rid of the flower center. They have the same canvas texture to them.

Creating A Flawless Panorama In Photoshop - HD Video Tutorial
This week, Deke broadens your horizons with his helpful tips for creating a seamless panorama. Although the Photomerge process in Photoshop is not particularly difficult to use, shooting good images to go into the merged panorama takes some thought. Working carefully will give you the best results, despite the automatic nature of the processing. For instance, worry less about locking down your settings or using a tripod, and more about your feet and framing the shot all the way through. Deke also has some tips for using Photomerge as well. Ultimately, Deke shows you how to seamlessly stitch together photos shot from the Accademia Bridge in Venice that will make you feel like you’re gliding down the Grand Canal.
And what do you think of Deke’s observation about the current trend against photo stitching— lining up the individual photos that would normally go into a panorama, but leaving them in separate frames? For instance, do you prefer modern tetraptych (yes, I had to look that word up) in the upper image below, or the classic panorama in the lower image? I may be a helpless romantic when it comes to Venezia, but for me, it’s the image below that evokes my nostalgia for standing on the Ponte dell’Accademia in one of the most magical cities in the world. And isn’t that what a panorama is supposed to inspire?

Adobe Announces Availability Of Photoshop Touch Applications For iPad
Adobe today announced the immediate availability of the Adobe Photoshop Touch apps – Adobe Color Lava, Adobe Eazel and Adobe Nav – for Apple iPad in the Apple App Store. These three apps from Adobe were developed using the Photoshop Touch Software Development Kit (SDK) to demonstrate the potential for new interaction between Photoshop and tablet devices.
Adobe Color Lava for Photoshop, Adobe Eazel for Photoshop and Adobe Nav for Photoshop unite the fun and interactive experience of touch devices with the power and precision of Photoshop by enabling users to create custom color swatches, paint directly onscreen and drive popular Photoshop tools from tablet devices. These applications take advantage of the iPad’s touch screen for a truly immersive, tactile, on-the-go experience, and expand upon inroads made by Adobe in the mobile and tablet market initiated with Photoshop Express, Adobe Ideas and Adobe Connect Mobile.

These paintings can then be sent directly to Photoshop CS5 for compositing or for taking the artwork further.
Adobe Nav increases workflow efficiency by letting users select and control Photoshop tools using the iPad as the input surface, customize the toolbar, browse and zoom in on up to 200 open Photoshop files, or easily create new files.

How To Create Interesting Textures In Photoshop Without Using Brushes
I like this tutorial from Bittbox on how to create textures in Photoshop without using brushes. From the intro: I give away a LOT of stuff here on BittBox, mainly textures and brushes. The truth is, many of the textures are manufactured using recycled images I already have hanging around on my hard drive.
